As another reviewer warned, this book is for "Powershot" models only. If your Canon camera is not a Powershot, just move along!Specifically, this book is about the CHDK software written to replace the camera's own firmware (only while the power is on though, your old firmware is left unaltered). There are websites about CHDK and it's many complex capabilities, but I found they all assumed some level of CHDK knowledge that I did not have. This book fills that need. It is a step-by-step explanation of what CHDK is, how to get it, how to install it, etc.After explaining the many, many camera functions accessible with CHDK he goes on to give a thorough explanation of the two scripting languages; uBasic and 'lua'. Then the book finishes up with explanations of the SDM software which is similar to but not the same as CHDK.I highly recommend this book to anyone hoping to understand CHDK. CHDK is so powerful in fact, that you might do well to pick up a used Powershot for the sole purpose of using CHDK!
