I use it over my art/drawing desk and it is out of the way, very sturdy, although the actual tablet/computer arm could be sturdier. My iPad 12”pro wants to weight it down a bit. Overall, I love it.Out of all the listed options that came up when searching for this, I am glad I chose this one. Feels really solid and always looks sturdy. Definitely worth the extra money.I use this stand in my quilting studio. I've attached a ball-head mount and clamp to the extendable arm, and use the clamp to hold a webcam. I move this stand all over my studio to record different parts of my process. Its versatility is exactly what I need.Additionally, I had a very positive experience with Ulanzi's customer service. I'd purchased a second one of these stands, but the second stand arrived without the top half of the support pole. (It's hard to tell in the product photos, but the vertical pole that the arm clamps to is in two halves that screw together.) I contacted Ulanzi about it and the support person replied quickly, was very friendly, and shipped the missing half of the pole to me the day after I contacted them.I used this on a 2-camera shoot. I mounted my heavier/larger camera and lens on it, nearly fully extended. The camera and lens weigh 2.64 lbs., just over half the rated weight. While it "worked", I won't use it again with that camera-lens combo. It was simply unstable. While the fasteners held tightly, the weight of the camera (with bars extended) leaned downward a bit (making the shot not level). And the whole thing bobbled. So, I needed to be careful of movement on the floor or pressing against the desk causing it to bob a bit.I have just tested it with a smaller camera and lens combo. At 1.73 lbs, I'd say that it "works" -- much more stable and less bobble; but that it is nearing the top end of usable weight. So, I am mainly docking the rating based on the weight claim that is about double what is actually real-world usable.Meanwhile, the design and build of it seems great. It attaches firmly to a desk or table (I've done both). The extenders work well. The fasteners seem solid. I have not tried the ball (that others have critiqued).I could see this being awesome for a cell phone or any small camera, and okay for any medium camera under 2 lbs total. But a no-go for larger camera setups.I cannabalised the arm and used the base to attach to a flat wood copy stand. I only used 2 of the arms as the third one, for what I an doing added more "flex" when a heavy DSLR and lens was attached. The two arm combo is vesatile to position the camera and provide about a 95% stable platform for the camera.I'm using this to support a Sony A7C with 35mm GM prime lens so not a lot of weight. I'm extending it outwards using 2ea arms and am not using one of the arms. The arms are attached at the center of the pole and the pole leans about 1 degree so not too bad of a lean, though noticeable if trying to see if the vertical rod is plumb. The ball swivel mount this product comes with is worthless. The ball came oily and no matter how hard you tighten it, it can't hold the camera, or even a small LED light that well. The swivel succumbs to gravity and anything that has weight will slowly lean until it leans over completely. I suppose degreasing and roughing up the metal ball might help, i've also heard kitty litter to add some "grit" to the ball might fix this but I didn't bother because I don't like the tightening knob at all. I ended up swapping out the ball swivel for another one by another import brand and it works like a charm.I would highly recommend purchasing the arm with another heavier duty swivel mount than the one that this comes with. In addition, consider getting the one with the 2nd arm if you want to "counter balance" the pole so that it doesn't lean to one side.Overall, the aluminum arms and hardware are good quality, and the matte coating is nice but can get fingerprints though I have no issues with the craftsmanship. I like the swivel arms, pole and hardware that attaches to the desk. It does feel like it is designed to be set in one position and does not like frequent adjustments. I would score this higher if I felt like I got my money's worth and that I didn't think there were some improvements to be made.I recently got this to make vertical videos but I found that the ball head included has a hard time holding my a7iv with my 28-75 Tamron. I realized that I can use the ball head from my Joby 3k gorilla pod and it had an amazing hold. try this instead, not practical but I could not find another swivel arm with a decent ball head.I'm a YouTuber so my use case my different than some but using this arm helped me lose a few stands from my set up. I previously had the mic on one stand and the light on the other but with this, I removed the stand from the boom and attached the boom arm to the top of this mount for the light. Then used the arm itself to mount the mic in place. I'm using another arm for the camera that's attached to the desk but technically I could connect it to the mount as well, but it isn't needed.Previously, I had it connected to a different desk and used it as something to hold a gopro as a 5th camera during live streams. Keeping the knobs a little loose allowed me to be able to use the mount as a moving arm to show people around the studio.Overall, this thing is awesome and you can use it in some pretty creative ways, especially if you have extra adapters and mounts laying around. As a side tip, if you have a mic flag, it also fits comfortably over this pole in the event you want to put it there. It is sufficiently robust to handle a DSLR.Solidly made and well designed. Easily multiple directional, and the camera position can be moved with ease. This eliminates the need for a tripod in my tiny studio. Trying to work around a tripod in a small space is limiting, physically exhausting and a huge time waster.I wish I had had one of these years ago.
