The fact that Josh Joplin Group sounds like REM doesn't make up for the liking-this-song-a-lot factor. True, the lead singer will remind you of Michael Stipe (which is a great thing for anyone who *is* a fan of REM), but the greatest thing about this song is the way JJG incorporates the fantastically artificial world of Hollywood life into a simple story that focuses on just life itself. The chorus ("It's funny how life turns out/ The odds are faithful/ The face of doubt/ Camera one closes in/ The soundtrack starts, the scene begins/ You're playing you now/ You're playing you now/ You're playing you now/ Take a bow") will most definitely have you thinking on terms of your own life and how it plays out much like JJG describes it to be. In our little world, aren't we all just the actors in our life story?
